Audley Travel sale being considered
Audley Travel’s private equity owner is looking at selling the upmarket tour operator.
Equistone is believed to have hired Rothschild to ‘run a sale process’ which is expected to value the company at £200m, reports the Telegraph.
The private equity firm invested £90m in 2012 in the business, which was founded by Craig Burkinshaw and John Brewer.
Audley Travel, which has annual revenues of around £150m and started out as Asian Journeys in 1996, opened its first US office in Boston and a London base last year. It employs 350 people and is headed by chief executive Ian Simkins.
The potential sale follows an increased interest travel and leisure business by private equity firms including Travel Counsellors, Iglu, Sykes Cottages, Lastminute.com and Scott Dunn.
On The Beach, owned by private equity firm Inflexion, is also reported to be considering a £250m float.
