Aussie and Kiwi visitors to USA to pay for US tourism ads
A report in World Travel Guide says that visitors to the USA may have to contribute towards paying for the promotion of tourism under a proposed scheme.
According to a new bill approved recently in the US Senate, travellers from overseas could be chipping in for the proposed Travel Promotion Act, with tourists visiting the USA under the visa waiver scheme required to pay US$10 when entering the country.
This will include travellers from the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Australia and New Zealand.
The USA has suffered a decrease in tourism since the 9/11 attacks.
