Avoiding Russia, Cathay Pacific’s NYC flight is world’s longest

Cathay Pacific’s new nonstop New York-Hong Kong route has become the world’s longest – all because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It is the longest flight by distance at 16,618km due to the epic routing it has to take to avoid Russian airspace.
It will fly over the Atlantic, UK, southern Europe and central Asia en route to Hong Kong from NYC. It would normally overfly Russia and the Arctic.
