BA.com visits soar during dispute
Visits to British Airways’ website BA.com increased by 83% during the height of unofficial strike action which grounded flights last Friday.
Analysis by Hitwise also showed that the site for Heathrow – www.baa.co.uk – saw a 68% rise in traffic.
BA.com rose to the top spot in the Hitwise commercial airlines category last Friday for the first time this year, and became the 54th most visited website in the UK as travellers sought information on the disruption.
The site has held the number three ranking each week for the past 15 months, and has taken the second spot in the daily rankings from Ryanair just four times since the beginning of the year – on January 1, January 9, August 11 and August 13, according to Hitwise.
For the week, BA’s market share was up 19% for the week but it still ranked third behind easyJet and Ryanair.
