BA develops drive-through check-in
British Airways has launched its first drive-through check in, available for premium passengers embarking in Barbados.
Club World passengers are offered the chance to drop off checked luggage and collect their boarding passes at the IAM Jet Centre, adjacent to the main Grantley Adams airport terminal.
First class passengers do not even have to see the inside of the airport terminal. They check in at the Jet Centre before being taken by private vehicle to a Boeing 777.
“Many of our first and club world passengers stay in private residences and luxurious hotels all over the island,” said British Airways commercial manager South Caribbean Elvin Sealy.
“Having a dedicated check-in centre means they can avoid the hassle of the terminal and we can ensure that their departure experience meets their overall holiday expectations.”
Meanwhile, BA is introducing two new European routes from Gatwick. The airline will operate flights from Gatwick to Bucharest and Sofia from summer 2005.
Services to Bucharest, Romania, will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from May 2005, with fares starting at £146 return.
Flights to the Bulgarian capital Sofia depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 2005 and are also from £146.
