Bali hotels face APEC crunch
Tourists are being advised to avoid resort hotels in Bali’s Nusa Dua enclave during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in October next year.
Most rooms in star-rated hotels in Nusa Dua are expected to be booked out by thousands of APEC delegates. High security in the area will also be a deterrent to overseas tourists
APEC will be held from October 1-10, at the Bali International Convention Centre and the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre.
Prior to the summit, the new international airport terminal and expansion at Ngurah Rai Airport, plus the road improvement project in South Bali, are scheduled to be finished, according to local authorities.
Secretary of the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association for Bali, Perry Markus, said the hotels would manage their room allocation, "allowing a portion for the delegates, as well as for regular tourists".
He said accommodation would be available in Bali during APEC at other resort areas, including Jimbaran, Kuta, Sanur and Ubud.
