Bali resort in APEC security push
Bali hotels have been told they must get a move on to complete their security verification process ahead of October’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum on the island.
Bali Police, together with the Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants (PHRI) Bali, must act faster, governor Made Mangku Pastika said.
Some 40 hotels must meet strict security standards covering facilities and human resources. Among those who have yet to be signed off are 10 five or four starred hotels.
The APEC Summit will take place in the Nusa Dua Resort complex from October 1-10.
US President Barrack Obama, Russian Premier Vladimir Putin and China President Xi Jinping have confirmed their attendances at the summit.
PHRI Bali told Bali Daily that 26 out of 40 selected APEC hotels had passed the verification process.
The remaining hotels must improve their security systems, management, facilities and human resources in order to pass the verification process," a PHRI spokesman said.
