Barbados sees rise in UK visitors
Barbados is reporting a 10% year-on-year rise in British visitors in the first three months of this year.
UK visitor arrivals exceeded 71,000 in the quarter, 24% more than the same period in 2014.
Numbers are set to rise even more this year thanks to events planned for the island’s 50th year of independence.
The destination also has a revamped website and an expanded sales team.
Cheryl Carter, director of the UK office, said: "We have our expanded our team both there and on mainland Europe as we continue to draw more and more visitors.
"We are delighted with the performance of our UK trade partners. We will be fully supporting them throughout the forthcoming years with joint marketing fees and trips to make sure that they are all kept up to date with the ever changing and improving scene in Barbados,"
Billy Griffith, CEO Barbados Tourism, added: "Our performance year on year is outstanding in terms of visitors but also in the length of stay and spend per head. We have been able to expand our overseas offices to increase our presence on the ground and as a consequence give our partners more direct support."
