Hotel booking website Mr & Mrs Smith has been named as the UK's favourite travel website by Conde Nast Traveller.

Expedia came in second place, beating off competition from Lastminute.com, Booking.com, Opodo and specialist sites Black Tomato and Seat61.

Expedia managing director Andy Washington said: "Being named runner up for this award is an impressive achievement. We're thrilled and honoured to be held in such high esteem by Conde Nast Traveller readers.

"At Expedia we're constantly evolving the site to make it more straightforward for the customer – with everything from our filtering process to the introduction of our faceboook application, TripCompanion. To be recognised for this is a wonderful testament to the hard work we continue to do."
