The low cost carrier is to serve Geneva from the North West airport with flights starting at £29.99 one-way including txes.

Flights to Geneva will also run from Leeds/Bradford and Manchester. Chambery will be served from Leed/Bradford, Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh and Newcastle, with tickets also costing £29.99.

Flights will operate from Leeds/Bradford to Salzburg starting at £39.99.

Jet2.com chief executive Philip Meeson said: “Our ski website www.jet2.com/ski proved to be hugely popular with skiers and snowboarders and the release of our winter ski routes including the new Geneva route from Blackpool Airport means there’s even more choice for winter sport enthusiasts.”

The website provides details on how to obtain basics such as ski passes and lessons at ski schools and can help plan hire of skis or snowboards, he added.
