Bomb threat grounds BA flight in Bermuda
A British Airways transatlantic flight bound for London had to abort take-off at the very last minute due to a bomb threat.
A threat had been emailed to LF Wade international airport in Bermuda.
Passengers aboard the BA flight were deplaned.
The threat came in just as the flight was due to take off for London Heathrow.
Passengers on the BA flight were accommodated in Bermuda overnight.
Authorities took no chances and closed local roads to traffic.
“The airport building and its environs were searched by airport security,” a Bermuda police spokesperson said.
It turned out to be a hoax.
“Staff also advised that emergency landing protocols had been initiated at the airport. Once the all-clear was given and the airport was declared safe, regular traffic flow was restored.”
“Our teams cared for our customers and supporting crew to get them on their way as soon as possible,” BA said.
