Brand USA elects new chair
The board of directors of Brand USA has elected Tom Klein, president and CEO of Sabre Corp, as new chair of the board.
Klein succeeds Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson.
Klein was one of 11 original members of the destination marketing organisation for the US, appointed in 2010 by the secretary of commerce.
"The Brand USA team has made tremendous progress getting industry and government resources all working together to support the important economic and cultural benefits of increasing international visits to the United States," Klein said.
"It’s an honour to serve as chair of the Brand USA board as we find new ways to market the USA to the rest of the world."
Prior to the appointment, Klein was vice chair of the board.
Each board member of Brand USA is appointed for a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms.
According to an independent study, Brand USA marketing initiatives have helped generate more than three million incremental visitors to the US during the last three years.
