Brisbane Airport $4.5 million upgrade
Work has begun on a $4.5 million road system upgrade at the Brisbane Domestic terminal. According to BAC Executive Manager Airport Planning, Mr Mark Willey, this will increase vehicle capacity and improve transport services at the airport.
“Extensive computer modelling of pedestrian and vehicle flows has enabled BAC to reconfigure the domestic terminal road network and build two new roads that deliver a 50 percent increase in set down and pick up areas on the terminal face,” Mr Willey said.
BAC handles more than 12 million travellers annually – along with airport staff and visitors. The improvements, which will be scheduled outside of peak periods, are designed to improve entrance and exit lanes, disabled set down pick up zones and an undercover taxi rank.
