Brit dad drowns off Costa del Sol
A British man on a family holiday in the Costa Del Sol has drowned after swimming in the sea while the red warning flag was flying.
The man, who has not yet been named, was on holiday with his wife and daughters.
According to reports, other people on the beach noticed he was getting into difficulty yesterday afternoon when the red flag was out.
The emergency services tried to revive him but he was declared dead at the scene.
A young girl – believed to be one of the dead man’s children – and a man aged about 50 were saved by lifeguards.
The incident, on the beach of El Peñoncillo in Torrox, Malaga, is the 12th drowning on this particular stretch of the Spanish coastline this year.
