Brussels Airlines makes inroads into Africa with Travelport deal

Tuesday, 01 Dec, 2010 0

Brussels Airlines has inked a deal with technology provider Travelport to allow Worldspan and Galileo connected agents access to full fares and inventory of the airline including online rates.

The move will allow the Belgian carrier to get a stronger foothold on the African market where it offers 20 destinations and where Travelport is the predominant travel technology provider.

VP Channel development and service delivery at Brussels Airlines Rudy Maex said: “The extensive network that Travelport offers through its Galileo and Worldspan platforms, and particularly their footprint in Africa where they are the GDS of choice, gives us exceptional access to the travel industry and is an important part of our overall distribution strategy.”

This year Brussels Airlines also began using Travelport’s ETAT ticketing solution in a number of African countries, an alternative for countries where there is no standard ticketing process.
