Business travelers turning overnight trips into same day jaunts

Tuesday, 10 Nov, 2009 0

The latest business traveler’s woe: turning what in good times were overnight trips into same-day jaunts. The obvious reason: save time and money.

There are some extreme examples. Some airline executives fly from Vancouver to London in the same day — 20 hours of flying time, cited by the Globe and Mail.

Toronto-London day trips are no longer uncommon, either. And some business travelers report regularly flying from Canada to Los Angeles.

“I’d rather get home to my family than stay in Los Angeles,” said Richard Job, an airline executive.

“These travel-business insiders are on the leading edge of a trend that is being noticed throughout the industry,” says the Globe and Mail.

Another business travel trend to save money: trips that might have warranted a short flight are now becoming road trips.
