CAA to brief on new ATOL scheme
The Civil Aviation Authority has created a simple guide to ATOL reforms, a dedicated area on its website and templates on how to issue the new certificates as part of a campaign to help the industry adapt.
It will also be speaking directly to travel trade staff across the country, with over 50 events planned for the coming months.
These include the CAA’s own events – where travel operators and agencies can ask about the licensing process – as well as having CAA representatives taking part in events run by industry organisations.
Details of the these can be found by clicking here.
The Department of Transport announced today that the new ATOL system which includes "Flight Plus" holidays sold by tour operators and travel agents will start from 30 April, see previous story
Agents and operators have until 1 October to prepare for the new ATOL certificates.
Richard Jackson, group director for consumer protection at the CAA said: "There’s no doubt that these reforms will mean changes for the whole industry, so it’s essential that businesses are prepared for when they come into force."
