California and Florida rate highest for summer vacations

Where do most Americans want to visit for their next vacation in this country?

California and Florida, says Harris Interactive.

They tied for most popular at 11%. Las Vegas was second with 5%.

Of those planning to travel outside the US, the No. 1 destination was Mexico; 19% wanted to go. Next was the Bahamas at 4%, followed by Canada at 5% and France at 5%. The UK was also among the most desired destinations.

A large number of 24% were not sure where they wanted to go next.

A majority of those polled, 86%, said their summer vacation would be within the US. But almost a third said they are not sure what state they want to visit.

What do these travelers want from suppliers?

A majority of 51% said they always look at promotional discounts, loyalty points or added amenities when deciding where to travel.
