Canada earthquake and aftershocks: no major damage
After a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the west coast of Canada over the weekend, experts say that a magnitude 6.2 quake and a magnitude 6.3 quake in the same region are aftershocks of the initial quake, the biggest in Canada since 1949, although no major damage has been reported in either incident.
Some residents in parts of British Columbia were evacuated. A tsunami warning was issued in Hawaii over the weekend after the initial Canada quake. Beaches on Oahu were cleared although only small waves were recorded.
