CCTV shows travel agent murder
Video footage of the knife attack on a travel agent in Thailand was shown in court as two men pleaded guilty to the murder.
Surasak ‘Boy’ Suwannachot, 26 and his accomplice Surin Toptong, 37, who rode the motorbike pleaded guilty in the Phuket provincial court.
Michelle Smith, 60, from Perth, Australia, died on the evening of 20 June after she was stabbed.
She had been attacked in the street while staying with nine other Australian travel agents at the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, in Kata Noi, on a familiarisation trip.
In CCTV footage shown in court, Mrs Smith and her companion, Tammee Lynn, 42, are seen walking before the attack.
The motorbike approaches and it then shows Surasak, who was on bail on other charges at the time of the attack, lashing the knife out at Mrs Smith and Lynn, who was also injured.
Visibly shaken, Surin changed his plea to guilty when confronted with CCTV footage that showed him driving the motorbike from which Surasak dismounted.
