Celebrating 400 years of history in New Hampshire

Tuesday, 11 Mar, 2023 1

This year sees major anniversaries taking place in New Hampshire.

Although New Hampshire has just twelve miles of coastline, it sure makes the most of it.

The charming small city of Portsmouth is so elegantly preserved it even incorporates its own living history museum right in the center of town; Strawberry Banke Musuem.

Settled in 1623, the city of Portsmouth is celebrating its 400th birthday in 2023.

It will celebrate the milestone by honoring its diverse and dynamic history from the time of the early Native American settlements to the present.

Events have been planned throughout the year to include a tall ships festival, native American story telling, an Italian district food festival and even an outdoor dinner for 700 local residents.

The nearby city of Dover also celebrates its 400th birthday in 2023.

Events planned throughout the year include historical reenactments, fireworks, parades, festivals and much more.

The countdown is on for the 2023 Motorcycle Week in Laconia, as the rally officially celebrates 100 years. This rally is the world’s oldest motorcycle rallies, attracting thousands of riders from all over the world to New Hampshire every June.  Laconia welcomes all comers to this friendly gathering of bike experts, enthusiasts and total amateurs. All the family as well as interested visitors from overseas are hugely encouraged to join the crowds, shop, watch the rallies, learn, eat and enjoy together.
