Celebrity Edge first ship to get CDC approval to resume sailing
A Celebrity Cruises ship has the edge over rivals by becoming the first large cruise ship approved to sail from a US port.
Celebrity Edge got the green light from the CDC and will sail again in June.
The ship has skipped the ‘test’ cruise phase by guaranteeing that at least 98% of crew and 95% of passengers will be fully vaccinated.
"For the past 15 months our conversations with friends and loved ones about seeing the world have been accompanied by the phrase "someday." I’m beyond proud and excited to say that day has arrived"
"We’ve been preparing for this day for months."
The ship will depart from Port Everglades on 26 June with all crew and all passengers over the age of 16 required to show proof of vaccination prior to embarking.
The Royal Caribbean Group-owned cruise brand hasn’t yet disclosed itinerary details.
