Center Parcs scraps plan for £400m holiday park
Center Parcs has officially ditched plans for a new £400m holiday park in West Sussex.
The project was for 900 woodland lodges, various leisure facilities, restaurants, and a subtropical swimming complex.
It was met with strong opposition from wildlife campaigners.
“This would have been disastrous for wildlife and see us lose irreplaceable habitat. Oldhouse Warren is an exceptional 550-acre ancient woodland,” the Woodland Trust, said.
The chosen site was the habitat for rare birdlife.
“This decision demonstrates how seriously we take our responsibility to the environment,” Center Parcs CEO, Colin McKinlay said.
