Chicago airports launch free unlimited Wi-Fi
The Chicago Department of Aviation has announced upgraded free Wi-Fi options for all travelers at the city’s two airports.
O’Hare and Midway international airports are now offering unlimited free broadband Wi-Fi service with the ability to stream content.
It replaces the previous time-based free service.
"We are pleased that O’Hare and Midway now offer free unlimited Wi-Fi to better serve our passengers by keeping them connected throughout their airport journey," according to CDA Commissioner Ginger S. Evans.
"As we grow and modernize Chicago’s airports, the new service underscores our commitment to integrating new technology and platforms that enhance the passenger experience."
Previously, free airport Wi-Fi had a 30-minute time limit, the CDA said.
The new unlimited option from Boingo Wireless is being funded by advertisers with ads displayed every 45 minutes.
There is also an option to buy daily or monthly Boingo Wireless packages with faster internet speeds.
The CDA also said other improvements are coming to the airports including ‘new security as well as advanced technologies designed to provide a more seamless experience.’
