Chris Browne to become easyJet chief operating officer

TUI Aviation’s former chief operating officer Chris Browne is to replace Warwick Brady as chief operating officer of rival easyJet.

The low-cost airline said Brady had announced his intention to leave after eight years with easyJet to ‘further his career in a larger role’.

Browne, who left TUI exactly a year ago, has been on the board at easyJet as a non-executive director since the start of the year.

She will now relinquish that position to become COO alongside chief executive Carolyn McCall.

Browne, who spent 16 years at TUI, is credited with the successful re-branding of its in-house carrier Air 2000 to First Choice Airways and leading its subsequent merger with Thomsonfly.

She has also previously worked at Iberia and Carlson Worldwide.

EasyJet said Browne will step down from the board on September 30 to join its management team.

“I have enjoyed working with Warwick over the past six years and he has been a key factor creating a low cost, customer focussed efficient operation that has underpinned the success of easyJet. I wish him all the best.

"I would also like to welcome Chris to the executive team at easyJet. We know her well – she has an amazing track record in the airline and travel industries. She has significant operational expertise and really understands easyJet. We are all really looking forward to her joining the easyJet team."
