Chris Isaak to perform at Barossa Under the Stars

The Adelaide Advertiser says that he is famous for his rendition of Only The Lonely, but Californian crooner Chris Isaak will have a captive audience of about 9000 when he takes centre stage at next year’s Barossa Under the Stars.

The platinum-selling singer/songwriter is headlining the March 14 event, which has showcased acts including Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart and The Beach Boys during its 10-year history.

Barossa Wine & Tourism’s Terry Parsons said yesterday the concert had become one of the state’s premier social events.

“It is getting bigger and better each year – again, a sell-out is expected,” he said.

The news coincides with an announcement today that Isaak has been signed to Universal Music Australia. The label is releasing his first live album Chris Isaak – Live in Australia on October 18.

Recorded during his 2006 tour, it will feature hits including Only The Lonely, Wicked Game and Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing.

Tickets for Barossa Under the Stars 2009 go on sale on October 13 through BASS (131 246) and VenueTix (8225 8888).
