CLIA teams up with Smartraveller to keep cruisers safe
Cruise Lines International Association Australasia plans to arm cruise agents with more accurate travel advice and tips for clients.
CLIA has teamed up with Smartraveller, the travel advisory portal for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The CLIA’s new learning e-module outlines how the different travel advisory levels work, what to do when things go wrong overseas and what the DFAT can do to help travellers overseas.
Smartraveller posts up to date advice for travellers heading to more than 170 countries with tips on how to stay safe, as well as information on any health or security concerns.
Giving up to date and accurate advice is an essential part of a travel agent’s role, says CLIA Australasia and Asia managing director, Joel Katz.
A clued up agent with valuable destination information relating to the latest health and security issues instils confidence and customer loyalty.
"On any given day there can be an issue affecting any country and it is absolutely vital that agents provide their clients with timely, accurate and relevant advice," Katz said.
