Comfort now largest smoke-free hotel brand in North American

Choice Hotels International’s Comfort brand is now the largest in the country with a completely smoke-free policy.

Its 1,800 Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites hotels have gone smoke-free following customer research, the company says.

"We continue to take a series of bold steps to make the Comfort guest experience better than ever, and becoming the largest hotel brand across the United States and Canada to commit to being smoke-free is yet another example," said vice president of brand strategy Anne Smith.

The company first announced its intention to make all Comfort Inn hotels smoke free in late 2015, alongside Comfort Suites which has had an anti-smoking policy for several years.

The no smoking policy also extends to Canada.

Customer feedback also found smokers themselves are more likely to choose smoke-free accommodations, Choice said.

It is part of a push to promote enhanced wellness products and services across the brand which has the tag line ‘rested. set. go.’

Wellness focused upgrades recently introduced include more healthy breakfast options and lemon-infused ice water stations in lobbies.
