Consumers demand more Africa
Consumer demand has prompted African safari specialist Bench International to almost double the choice of itineraries and accommodation it is offering in East Africa in 2008.
Chairman Charles Bench says that whilst the traditional Kenya and Tanzania Highlights tours remain extremely popular there has been demand for itineraries which explore areas not previously high on the tourist’s priority list.
He said that new packages like the Serengeti Wilderness Camp and a combination of the Serengeti national park and Zanzibar had been devised to meet market demand and satisfy requests from repeat travellers.
Another new itinerary is the Best of Kenya tour which concentrates on an amazing variety of landscapes and wildlife habitats not normally visited by the masses.
The seven-night package uses domestic flights to conserve time on a program which takes in Laikipia, Meru national park, Shaba game reserve and Elsa’s Kopje the camp made famous by the film “Born Free” and George and Joy Adamson’s lions.
The timetable of arrival for Australians visiting Kenya necessitates most having a stay in the capital Kenya before leaving on safari, so Bench has introduced a new range of hotel options, like the elegant Giraffe Manor, which is made famous by its resident heard of the lanky animals.
Also new, is a choice of local sightseeing including visits to the Karen Blixen Museum, Daphne Sheldrick’s elephant orphanage, Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru’s flamingos or the Kenyan home of Elspeth Huxley, author of “The Flame Trees of Thika”.
