Contiki’s insight into youth tourism
SYDNEY – Contiki Holidays, has released its annual Travel Trends Research Report carried out by Galaxy Research.
This year’s report, The Skilled Set, is a comprehensive review into the aspirations and intentions of 18 to 35 year olds in relation to career, travel and life in general.
The Skilled Set – The Stats
– International travel is the number one aspiration for 88 per cent of young Australians, followed by a domestic holiday (80 percent).
– 97 percent of 18-35s believe travel can help them with their career or life in general.
– Skills gained from travel include: skills they would never learn in the workplace (76 percent), greater confidence (65 percent), ability to budget (58 percent), problem solving and decision making (51 percent).
– The top five elements identified in achieving a good work-life balance include: good working conditions (78 percent) and working hours (76 percent), spending time with family and friends (73 percent), the ability to take short breaks (71 percent) and being able to look forward to holidays (66 percent).
– Only 17 percent of 18-35s think being able to change jobs regularly helps achieve a good work-life balance.
