Cosmos clients to contribute to Travel Foundation
Cosmos has become the latest operator to support The Travel Foundation by asking clients to contribute £1 per booking.
The introduction of the scheme will be backed up with staff training for agents on the sustainable charity and the schemes it supports around the world.
The aims and work of The Travel Foundation are already highlighted in Cosmos’ brochures and details of optional customer donations will be included in latest edition Summer 2007 brochures which are due with agents on December 21.
Cosmos’ overseas and product director Hugh Morgan said: “We have been supporting the Travel Foundation with various sustainable tourism initiatives over the past two years.
“With the development to our booking system now complete, we are delighted to be in a position to invite our customers to make a suggested voluntary donation of £1 to the Travel Foundation.”
“This emphasises our commitment to working with the Travel Foundation as well as various industry associations to promote sustainable tourism worldwide.”
The Travel Foundation director Sue Hurdle said: “Cosmos carries more than 500,000 passengers annually so we cannot underestimate the importance of this partnership and the difference that their customer fundraising will make to The Travel Foundation – and most importantly to the destinations we are working to protect.”
Cosmos joins operators such as First Choice, Hidden Greece, Sunvil Holidays, The Adventure Company, Thomas Cook and TUI UK in fundraising on behalf of the charity.
The Travel Foundation aims to help tourism make a positive contribution to holiday destinations and is funding programmes in Kenya, Sri Lanka, Tobago, Mexico, The Gambia, Cyprus, Sri Lanka and Turkey.
