Customers of grounded Rayani Air still waiting for refunds

As the Malaysian air regulator begins an official probe into grounded carrier Rayani Air, some customers are still awaiting refunds one month after operations were suspended.

The company had assured affected customers they would be reimbursed within 30 days but many are still waiting, reports the Malay Mail.

"When I applied for a refund on April 11, I was told by the Rayani staff I would receive it within 30 days. However, today I am back here again to check on my status," said customer  Faizul Rosli.

The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) officially suspended Sharia compliant airline Rayani Air’s operations for a three month period on April 11.

The inquiry into the airline’s operations got off to an unexpected start yesterday when Ravi Alagendrran failed to show up after he ‘fainted.’

His wife attended in his absence and briefly spoke to the media.

"I’m sorry Ravi fainted. We’ve received good response from the department and there will be another session with them next week," said Datuk Karthiyani Govindan.
