Delta employee indicted for ticket voucher fraud
A former Delta Air Lines customer service rep has been indicted for wire fraud, alleging she fraudulently issued travel vouchers worth thousands of dollars.
Mariama Stenson, 47 worked for Delta from November 2013 to June 2017, according to court documents.
Part of her job was to address complaints by issuing complimentary ‘eCredits’ for travel, Cincinnati.com reported.
Investigators said she issued 231 vouchers to friends, family and others during a period of three months’ paid leave in 2017.
The vouchers were fraudulently obtained over wire transmissions accessing the Delta network.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said it was not the first fraud related offense for Stenson.
In 2010, Stenson pleaded guilty to wire fraud in a tuition fraud scheme, and was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
