Delta passengers evacuate as engine catches fire
A FAA investigation is underway into another worrying engine fire.
Delta Air Lines passengers had to exit by emergency slide on the tarmac at Orlando International Airport after an engine caught fire.
Footage showed flames and smoke emitting from the right engine.
The Airbus A330 was headed to Atlanta and was carrying nearly 300 passengers and crew.
There were no reports of injuries.
“Passengers were evacuated. aircraft rescue and firefighting team promptly responded,” the airport said on social media.
“We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience,” Delta Air Lines said.
“Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating the incident.
It is the latest in a long line of incidents so far this year, including two fatal air accidents.
In January, 67 people were killed in a midair collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a military helicopter near Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan Airport.
In February, all 80 Delta passengers miraculously survived after a plane skidded on the runway and flipped over at Toronto Pearson Airport.
