Disney names new theme parks chairman
Walt Disney Co. has named Bob Chapek chairman of its theme parks business, replacing rising star Tom Staggs who was elevated to chief operating officer.
Chapek will start immediately, Disney said.
Chapek has served as president of Disney Consumer Products since 2011 and prior to this he was head of the company’s film distribution and home entertainment business units.
Chapek will oversee Disney’s largest division based on employee count and the second largest on revenue generated.
Predecessor Staggs moved to COO earlier this month, in a move widely seen as the first step in his elevation to CEO, when Bob Iger stands down.
