Disneyland Paris gun arrest not believed to be terror related
French police have arrested a man who tried to enter a hotel at Disneyland Paris with two guns, but latest reports say police don’t believe it was terror related.
The 28-year-old was stopped during a security check yesterday when his bag triggered the alarms as he entered the New York Hotel.
His female companion, who initially fled, was arrested but was later released without charge.
According to the French media, the man claimed he had the guns for his own safety.
Francois Banon, vice president communications and public affairs at Disneyland Paris, said: "During a routine security screening checkpoint at one of our hotels, weapons were discovered in a guest’s luggage through our x-ray machine.
"The police were immediately notified and the individual was arrested. We continue to work closely with the authorities, and the safety and security of our guests and cast members is our utmost priority."
Since the tragic terror attacks in Paris in November, France remains in a state of emergency.
Disneyland Paris is exepcted to open as usual today.
