Disney’s biggest ever ship floats out
Disney Cruise Line’s first Asia bound cruise ship has floated out.
At more than 200,000 gross tons, Disney Adventure will be one of the industry’s biggest vessels and will be the first Disney ship to be based year-round in Asia.
The float out in Germany on April 19 included a traditional ceremony at the shipyard.
It marks the official completion of the ship’s hull and construction moves to outfitting interior spaces and upper decks.
Disney Adventure is not an original design concept by Disney.
It was originally being built for Genting Hong Kong before its financial difficulties.
Disney later acquired the unfinished ship.
Disney recently took delivery of its sixth cruise ship and is building two more Wish class ships at Meyer Werft in Germany.
Disney Adventure will sail year-round in Singapore for at least five years, having sealed a deal with Singapore Tourism Board.
It is set to begin sailing in December 2025.
It will undergo sea trials in the Baltic Sea before Disney Cruise Line takes delivery.
At full capacity the ship will accommodate about 6,700 guests.
