“Distraught” passenger pushes into cockpit
An American Eagle passenger pushed his way past gate personnel, bolted into the cockpit and locked himself in while the flight he was waiting for was preparing to board on Wednesday at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. The flight was bound for Dallas/Fort Worth.
The passenger, identified by authorities as Andrew Alessi, made the dash for the cockpit about a half an hour before boarding was to begin.
Alessi was characterized by officials as "distraught." He had no weapons and was coaxed out of the cockpit by FBI agents. Alessi was arrested and is currently in federal custody. He faces charges of interfering with a flight crew.
