Dubai opens world’s first A380 facility
Dubai Airports has launched the phased opening of Concourse A, the world’s first A380 facility at Dubai International’s Terminal 3.
Four of 20 A380-dedicated contact gates began operating on January 2.
Emirates’ EK 003 from Dubai to London Heathrow became Concourse A’s first flight.
Concourse A is part of the Terminal 3 complex exclusively built for Emirates airline.
Dubai International’s annual passenger capacity will increase from 60 million to 75 million when Concourse A is fully operational.
The new facility will be available to A380 flights to Europe operated by Qantas, as per the global partnership announced recently and awaiting the final approval of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Emirates said.
