EasyJet first half results boosted by winter weather
EasyJet has announced it expects improved half year results due to the warmer winter, reduced competition and better than expected yields.
It had previously guided towards half year losses ranging between £140m and £160m compared to a £153m first-half loss in 2011.
But it is now predicting a pre-tax loss of £110m – £120 million.
Budget airline easyJet said the burden of high fuel costs made a £100million dent in its income in the first six months.
The carrier has decided to leave its forecasts for the second half unchanged as the effect of rising fuel prices and exchange rate movements is expected to add £145m to its costs over the next six months compared to the same period in 2011.
