EasyJet flight delayed due to passenger’s ‘suspicious behaviour’

An EasyJet flight from Italy to the UK was delayed yesterday when a passenger was removed from the aircraft after someone complained of his ‘suspicious behaviour’.

The airline said flight EZY 5234 from Pisa to Gatwick was held up due to additional security checks.

It said: "A passenger underwent specific checks with the authorities due to another passenger reporting what they believed was suspicious behaviour.

"Although the passenger was cleared to fly, he was unable to travel on his original flight and so easyJet provided him with hotel accommodation, meal and a transfer to the next available flight."

It is the third time in as many months that a passenger has been removed from an easyJet flight due to other passengers’ concerns.

Meghary Yemane-Tesfagiorgis is taking legal advice after he was removed from an easyJet flight from Rome to Gatwick when another passenger complained to the captain, but after additional security checks he was cleared to fly.

On February 25, Christian Laolu Opebiyi was removed from a flight at Luton after another passenger saw him arranging a group prayer on his mobile using WhatsApp.

He too was later cleared to fly but was forced to wait three hours for the next departure.
