Easyjet scraps over 200 flights amid cabin crew strike
Easyjet has cancelled over 200 flights to Portugal over the next three days due to a cabin crew strike.
It said a total of 232 flights are grounded including 27 roundtrip flights to and from the UK.
It affects departures from London Gatwick, Glasgow, Luton and Manchester but Belfast International flights to Portigal are not impacted.
The industrial action is set to continue through August 17.
Union SNPVAC said staff grievances are over staff shortages which have led to pressure applied to work overtime.
EasyJet had scheduled 1,138 flights over the three days with it was forced to cancel at least 20%.
“Due to the unnecessary strike action, we have had to cancel flights planned to operate during the period of the collective action.”
“We are extremely disappointed with this needless strike action, especially at this important time of the year for our customers.”
“Our priority has been to try and minimise the impact.”
It flies to Lisbon, Porto and Faro.
The airline says it has already informed impacted passengers their flights are cancelled.
EasyJet has over 800 Portugal based staff.
A further strike is planned in late August by ground handling workers over a pay dispute.
