Egypt continues to bounce back
Egypt is continuing to bounce back from the Sharm El Sheikh bombings as it retained its top ten slot in the most searched for holidays with Cheapflights.
It was seventh in the rankings for October, maintaining the strong recovery which made it the most popular search the previous month. The destination had slipped to 30th in the immediate aftermath of the July attacks.
Cheapflights director of business development Liz Faherty said: “Having experienced comparable terrorist activity, this survey illustrates how supportive and resilient the British are in helping Egypt’s resorts get back on their feet.”
Observers said cheap prices triggered the demand.
Tenerife was the top searched destination during October, reflecting its popularity as a winter sun destination. Costa del Sol and the Dominican Republic – showing signs of a recovery following the hurricanes – were second and third respectively.
In flight searches, New York retained its number one slot followed by Tenerife, Amsterdam and Dublin.
Prague was top of the short break search with Amsterdam second and Paris third.
