Emirates cancels London flights

Emirates has become the second Middle Eastern airline to cancel flights to the UK tomorrow to avoid disruption caused by a planned strike by immigration staff.

The airline has cancelled EK029 from Dubai to London Heathrow and EK030 from London Heathrow to Dubai.

Announcing the cancellations on its website, the airline said: "On 30 November there will likely be significant disruption and extensive delays for arriving and departing passengers in and out of the UK.

"Passengers are strongly encouraged to consider alternate travel days."

Passengers who have already been booked and ticketed to travel to/from the UK tomorrow may have their tickets rebooked or re-issued for travel between up to 7 December at no extra cost.

Yesterday, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad cancelled three of its London services due to operate tomorrow.

Other carriers including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific are advising passengers due to land in the UK tomorrow to re-book for alternative dates to avoid the risk of lengthy queues at immigration.

BAA has warned it could take arriving passengers up to 12 hours to clear immigration, which will have a knock-on effect on arriving and departing flights.
