END OF CHANNEL ISLANDS RECIPROCAL HEALTH AGREEMENT WITH UK
Dear TravelMole Editor I would like to draw attention to the fact that with effect from 1st April 2009 Guernsey, Alderney & Jersey will no longer have a Reciprocal Health Agreement in place with the UK. Therefore in most cases any medical treatment administered would have to be paid for. Plus of course, the possible repatriation to the UK must be taken into consideration, which I would add was not included in the Reciprocal Health Agreement. Obviously for Channel Islanders visiting the UK mainland the same principle will apply. This matter is further complicated by the fact that the Channel Islands are not part of the European Union, and therefore cannot take advantage of the European Health Insurance Card.
