Ex-Holiday Taxis manager launches rival transfer business
A former Holiday Taxis employee has launched a rival company offering airport transfers, to be unveiled at World Travel Market.
Damian McDonough, who was head of sales at Holiday Taxis, has teamed up with travel technology firm The Vertical Group to build a platform to connect travel agents with suppliers in resorts.
He said: Transfers are often regarded as a simple element of the package, however, sourcing and arranging transfers to thousands of resorts is costly, time-consuming and resource intensive and largely, it is not viable for retailers to source and arrange their own.
"Our offer to retail agents will be completely transparent, thereby giving agents more control over margins and for our suppliers, will offer a cost effective solution for the distribution and delivery of their product through our technology.”
Transfers for travel will be available through API and XML feeds from November, backed by The Vertical Group’s infrastructure.
The Vertical Group also owns accommodation only provider,www.bedbank.com and www.bedbankski.com and the transfers will be available to book online through both sites.
The Vertical Group chief executive Peter Healey said: “Having access to our own transfer stock is a natural step forward for our accommodation only sites and agents will be able to book all resorts online which will simplify the booking process and increase revenue for the agent."
