Exchange rates deter US visitors to Europe
US travellers are avoiding Europe because of unfavorable exchange rates, according to TripAdvisor’s Travel Outlook for 2008.
The survey found 41% of Americans said unfavorable exchange rates will either prevent them from going, or limit their travel to Europe in the coming year.
The poll also found that 26% of US travellers intend to be more environmentally conscious in their travel this year.
More than a third of Americans are planning to engage in an educational activity on vacation this year, such as a cooking or an art class, up from 28% last year
Almost half are likely to visit a spa while on holiday, and 80% are concerned about germs, bacteria and viruses while travelling.
