Explosion on London subway train a ‘terror incident’
An explosion in a London subway train this morning has been declared as a terror incident by police.
Parsons Green station, which is on the London underground’s District Line remains closed with armed police, anti-terror police and emergency services are at the scene.
Reports are emerging of commuters suffering facial injuries as a fire tore through the train carriages, and of others being hurt in stampedes as crowds fled the train and station in panic.
The London ambulance Service tweeted that 18 people had been taken to hospital with at least four more injured.
None are thought to be life-threatening injuries.
The detonation of the device, which was placed in a bucket, may have partially failed or possibly detonated prematurely.
The Metropolitan Police are urging people to avoid the area.
They are asking anyone with images from the scene to upload them to ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk.
British Transport Police said operations on the District line are suspended between Earls Court and Wimbledon stations and advised all passengers to remain vigilant.
President Trump also weighed in, calling the perpetrator a ‘loser’ in a tweet and seeming to suggest UK security forces have been tracking whoever is responsible.
