Fancy zorbing this summer, grandma?
Warner Leisure is to offer more ‘extreme’ activities at its hotels this summer after research revealed its mature clientele want more adrenalin-fuelled breaks.
A third of the over-50s polled said they would like to trial more extreme activities whilst a third called for them to be more accessible to their age group.
As a result, Warner wil zorbing at Cricket St. Thomas in Somerset in July and paddle boarding and abseiling will be added at a select number of hotels throughout the season as part of Warner’s ‘Living Life on The Edge’ series.
Research conducted by Warner and OnePoll revealed over half of female pensioners would choose ‘a fast-paced walk over a sit down with the knitting needles’ and 70% of 50-60 year olds claimed they want to see more fun, adrenaline-enticing activities being tailored and made more accessible to them.
A third of over-50s men and a quarter of women stated they were ‘always up for trying something new and only get the opportunity to take part in these ‘extreme’ sports when holidaying abroad’.
