The FBI has become involved in the recent spate of deaths at a Dominican Republic resort complex.

Feds are conducting advanced toxicology results after initial tests were inconclusive.

The FBI says it could take a month for results to come back.

"We ask everyone to be patient while these investigations run their course," a statement from the U.S. embassy in the Dominican Republic .

Three Americans have died within five days at the Bahia Principe resort complex.

Police are still investigating the deaths of Miranda Schaup-Werner, and Nathaniel Edward Holmes and Cynthia Ann Day.

Ever since news of the mysterious deaths was reported, events surrounding another four deaths are being looked at again.

Additionally, at least six other people have reported getting sick in recent months.

Various theories have been mentioned online including possible methanol poisoning from tainted alcohol, which is being looked at as two died after reportedly taking a drink from the minibar.

The D.R. tourism industry is taking heat and the tourism ministry is frantically working to ‘reinforce safety conditions and quality control in food, beverage and any other element’ that impacts tourists.

Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia implored the media and others not to speculate on the cause of the deaths and to wait for the official reports.

However, the recent shooting of famed Boston Red Sox slugger Davis Ortiz is arguably the most damaging of all.

Dominican Republic native was shot in a bar near the capital Santo Domingo.

He was shot at close range in what has been described as a targeted hit.

The three-time World Series winner was flown back to the US for treatment and is in a stable condition.
